Developmentally Appropriate Activities

At KidsRUs Early Learning Center Ltd, our programs are designed to meet each child at their individual stage of development. We recognize that every child learns in their own way and at their own pace, which is why we offer a balanced approach to play, exploration, and guided learning. Our goal is to support growth in all developmental areas — social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.

Our activities are thoughtfully planned to:

  • Encourage curiosity and creativity through hands-on exploration and problem-solving.
  • Support fine and gross motor skills through art, building, movement, and outdoor play.
  • Promote language and early literacy through songs, stories, and meaningful conversations.
  • Foster positive social skills through group play, sharing, turn-taking, and collaboration.
  • Build independence and self-help skills during daily routines like dressing, feeding, and tidying.
  • Strengthen cognitive development through matching, sorting, and early math challenges.

All activities follow the principles of the BC Early Learning Framework, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate for every child.

What Our Daily Routine Looks Like

Circle Time: Songs, stories, and shared discussions to build community and communication.

Sensory Play: Water, sand, playdough, and other materials that stimulate exploration.

Art & Creativity: Painting, drawing, and open-ended art that encourages imagination.

Outdoor Play: Fresh air, movement, nature walks, and gross motor games.

Music & Movement: Dancing, rhythm, singing, and expressive movement.

Free Play: Child-led exploration that encourages independence and social confidence.

Through these experiences, children express themselves, build confidence, and develop the foundation for lifelong learning — all within a warm, nurturing, and developmentally supportive environment.
